Ordering food from your mobile
Background
As part of a bid my team and I decided to produce a proof of concept for an app that allows users to order food. Capgemini was looking into expanding the user experience offering which resulted in engagement with some major clients.
I was responsible design thinking and artefacts such as the prototype. I was involved in delivering the pitch to the client.
Role
Interaction, Visual design, Prototyping, Testing & facilitation
I worked alongside a team of designers and researchers and together we worked on a sales bid for a major fast food chain.
Defining our scope and MVP
- User research in client stores
- To understand user needs, pain and current experience
- Contextual research
- An in depth competitor analysis to understand and take inspiration from what features work well
- Create user personas to represent the user experience
- Deep dive into data analytics for the current app to learn what we could

Discovery
The clients current application was designed to allow customers to order food whenever and wherever they want. The idea was to avoid the customers queuing and then allow them to collect food in restaurants.

Problems Identified
Users feel there is no time saved
They do not appreciate that the order is only cooked once they arrive in the store.
Users preferred it before the update
Users could previously choose from any location now forced to select from closest stores
Users experienced technical issues
Users have found the app unusable in some situations, due to crashing.

What users needs
Simplicity: easy to navigate, large imagery
Payment convenience
Reliability
Customisation
Delivery
Rewards

Prototype
The user place an order and chooses an option

The can choose a collection method and a time to collect

The user chooses a payment method and completes their order
